Boom Festival returns to Herdade da Granja, on the shores of the Marechal Carmona reservoir in Idanha-a-Nova, from 18 to 25 July 2027 – marking 30 years of cosmic psychedelic dancing. A historic edition for one of the most recognised festivals in the world.
What is Boom Festival
Born in 1997, Boom is far more than a music festival. It is a biennial gathering of alternative culture, visionary art, wellness practices and environmental awareness, that temporarily transforms a corner of inland Portugal into a global village. Over nearly three decades, it has evolved from a psychedelic trance party into a multidisciplinary celebration of alternative culture, bringing together participants from across the world – from Europe to Latin America, from Australia to Asia.
The programme spans multiple stages and themed spaces: the Dance Stage, Chill Out, Sacred Fire, Dream Stage, art and installation areas, workshop spaces and a film programme. The music crosses psytrance, world music, downtempo, electronica and ambient, but the music is only part of the experience.
Boomland and the Commitment to Sustainability
The festival takes place at Boomland, a permanent site owned by the organisation on the shores of the Idanha-a-Nova lake, in the district of Castelo Branco. Boom is an international benchmark in sustainability applied to large-scale events – with composting systems, wastewater treatment, plastic reduction and land regeneration projects that serve as a model for other festivals worldwide.
Practical Information
Idanha-a-Nova is approximately 280 km from Lisbon and 350 km from Porto. The area has no direct rail access, and local roads become heavily congested during the festival, particularly at arrival and departure times. The festival runs official coaches from Lisbon and Porto, but for those travelling in groups or with specific scheduling needs, private transport is the most practical and comfortable solution.
Travel to Boom Festival with Amiroad
Boom Festival is an exceptionally large-scale event, moving tens of thousands of people, artists, technical crews, production teams, suppliers and partners from around the world over the course of a week. Transport logistics is one of the greatest organisational challenges – and this is where Amiroad can make a real difference.
Our fleet includes executive cars, minibuses and larger capacity coaches, allowing us to meet a wide range of needs – from the individual transfer of an artist or VIP to the coordinated movement of entire teams with equipment.
We work regularly with event organisations, production companies and booking agencies to manage artist transfers between airports, hotels and venues, transport for technical crews with instruments and stage equipment, private shuttles between Lisbon or Porto and Idanha-a-Nova, and logistical support for corporate groups or groups of friends travelling together in comfort.
For Boom 2027, we strongly recommend planning transport well in advance, given the event’s scale and the site’s remote location. Contact us for a tailored proposal.
